Now removed as we have a lot more available power so it was a
bit ott and took up some space and added complexity
LVD - Low Voltage Disconnect
Return to modifications
LVD currently used for the fridge power only - protects batteries
from over discharge
The reason I fitted a LVD is that the fridge draws around 5 amps
when running, it would be possible to take too much power from the
batteries causing damage (if dropped below 12 VDC )
This could happen over night and I want to avoid deep discharging
the batteries.
The LDV will disconnect the power to the fridge before the batteries
get too low, once the batteries have some charge the system cuts
back in.
The unit I use was a programmable one from Ebay, the low voltage can
be set as well as the cut back in voltage.
